Who Are We
AFAN is a non-profit network connecting 100+ students, practitioners, and local communities through local agroforestry projects and events. The network works to promote and regenerate multifunctional public landscapes through applying agroforestry. We work primarily in parks, public forests, community gardens, and other appropriate sites, including degraded or marginal land and transition areas.
Action Network for You
We are here to facilitate collaborations and creative projects that contribute to community-led land management, stakeholder engagement, and environmental education. Through our local agroforestry projects, we connect interested practitioners to spaces where their skills directly benefit the public. Local events engage diverse communities to participate in learning activities in our project and demonstration spaces. We also support members logistically with planning international learning exchanges with our partner organisations. From transdisciplinary project workstreams to local and international learning experiences, there are ways for everyone to get involved and take action in their local environment through agroforestry practice!
AFAN launched in 2025 with a participatory approach: public events and an open planning process. Our members lead community-driven activities that maintain, stabilize, and regenerate space. Event activities are open to everyone, enabling students, professionals, families, and residents participate to learn together as practitioners of agroforestry.

Public Agroforestry Learning Garden at Sliparebacken Skogsträdgård, Lund, Sweden
Based in Lund, Sweden, this project restores and reactivates the public park landscape through community-led agroforestry initiatives. We're working with the municipality, alongside schools and the public to build local ecological and social resilience to climate change.
